What is Online Banking?
United Community Bank's Online Banking allows you to use a personal computer with internet access to manage your bank accounts. This service enables you to:
Transfer funds between your accounts
Obtain balance information Review transactions on your accounts
Make loan payments
Obtain a copy of your account statements for the current and previous statement cycle
View images of your checks
Pay bills using Bill Payment
Export your statement information into a personal financial management software
Order checks
What is Bill Payment?
Our Bill Payment service offered through Online Banking allows you to set up payments to just about anyone. You tell us the person or company you want to make a payment to, and we will withdraw the money from your account and send the payment to the payee. You may schedule one-time or recurring payments. Payments should be scheduled to allow enough time for us to produce the payment and enough time for the payment to be delivered to the payee. The payment will not be made if there is not sufficient funds in your account on the scheduled payment date. Our system will attempt to make the payment for five business days.
How much does Online Banking service cost?
Online Banking and Bill Payment services are free to our customers.
When can I use Online Banking?
You may log into Online Banking any time, 24-hours a day, seven days a week. You may access Online Banking from any computer with internet access.
How do I sign up for Online Banking?
Existing bank customers may click on Enrollment, read and accept the Online Banking Agreement and Disclosure, and complete the requested information to enroll. This information includes your Social Security Number, your primary account number and account type, a security question and security answer, and optional email address. (Security question and security answer are for security and identification purposes for future inquiries from you.) An example of a security question and answer would be: What is your pet's name? Answer: Spot. You may choose any question and answer you wish for your personal security, but you will want to avoid using information that is easy to guess. You may choose to enroll for Bill Payment at this time, or contact United Community Bank later to enroll. Once entered, your information will be securely transmitted to our bank. When received, we will issue to you within five business days an initial Access ID and Password, sent in two separate mailings by U.S. Mail.
Once you receive your Access ID and Password, you may go to our website at www.unitedcommunitybank.com and Log In. You will be prompted immediately to change your Access ID and Password. You must change your Access ID and Password at this time, and you will continue to use your chosen Access ID and Password for future log-ins. We will require you to change your Password every 12 months.
What are the requirements for the Access ID and Password?
Your Access ID must be a minimum of 6 characters long and is case sensitive. Your Password must be a minimum of 8 characters and a maximum of 10 characters and is case sensitive. It must have at least 1 numeric character and 1 alpha character. You will want to avoid using words or numbers that are easy to guess such as names or birthdates, etc.
How do I change my Password?
To change your Password at any time, click on Change Password button when logged into Online Banking.
What if I forget my Access ID or Password?
For security reasons, no Access ID or Password list is maintained. Please call the bank to request a new Access ID and Password.
What can I do to help protect my privacy and security?
You should keep your personal Access ID and Password confidential. Do not share them with anyone. Avoid using Access IDs and Passwords that are names or numbers that are easy to guess. Always log off Online Banking before walking away from your computer, even if you are only walking away for a short time. If you believe that an unauthorized user has gained your Access ID and Password you must notify our bank immediately.
When logged into Online Banking, how do I exit properly?
To exit Online Banking click on the Log Off button, which will return you to our bank's public web site.
Is Online Banking secure?
Online Banking is a safe and secure way to conduct your banking transactions. Our Online Banking program uses industry standard technology to maintain the privacy and security of your personal information and banking transactions. This technology includes your Access ID, Password and MFA system image and phrase for controlled entry into the secure internet banking site, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol and 128-bit data encryption. Firewalls are also in place for security in the transmission of your data.
UCB is using many technologies to ensure your personal information is kept confidential. It is crucial that our customers understand the importance of computer security at home. With computer security, you are only as secure as your weakest link. There are several basic steps to help keep home computers secure.
1) Run Anti-Virus software and keep anti-virus definitions current. Most software packages allow for an automatic update.
2) Run "Windows Update" to keep your system current with the latest security patches.
3) Use care when reading email with attachments.
