Our History
United Community Bank is a vibrant, community-focused bank that has been growing and evolving since its formation in 1931. Serving the communities of Milford, Okoboji, Hartley, Ocheyedan, and Lake Park, Iowa, UCB remains committed to providing top-notch banking services.
The bank was born from the merger of two historic institutions: Dickinson County Savings Bank, established in 1931, and Ocheyedan Savings Bank, originally chartered in 1892. The merger inspired the name change to the current United Community Bank. The Hartley location was added in 1995, followed by an expansion to Lake Park in 2000.
Key milestones in UCB's journey include the opening of a new facility in Okoboji in 1998, and the acquisition of assets and deposits from First Federal Savings Bank in 1998. Over the years, UCB has continued to grow, adapting to the needs of its customers and the community.
United Community Bank is proud to offer a wide range of banking services, from traditional accounts to innovative financial solutions, all backed by a strong commitment to community values and customer service. We continue to grow as a community-oriented, family-owned community bank offering a full range of traditional and innovative banking services to the residents of Northwest Iowa.
Our Directors play a crucial role in overseeing the strategic direction and financial health of United Community Bank guided by our mission, vision, and values.
